Ricky Stoddart Launches Koi Online

Ricky Stoddart, founder of Koi Talk MagazineKoi Wholesale, and one of the UK’s most respected figures in the world of Japanese koi, has officially launched a new retail platform — KoiOnline.co.uk.

This move marks a major shift in accessibility for hobbyists, who can now buy Japanese koi direct online from one of the most trusted sources in the industry. The website is designed to give koi keepers of all levels access to fish that were previously reserved for the trade — all backed by decades of experience and raised to the same standards seen in Japan.

What Is Koi Online?

Koi Online is a dedicated retail website offering hand-selected Japanese koi for sale to the public. Every koi is chosen by Ricky personally during his trips to Japan, sourced from some of the country’s most renowned breeders such as DainichiMaruyamaTakano, and more.

But Koi Online is more than just a retail outlet — it’s built to be a carefully crafted online koi buying experience, designed around the needs of hobbyists who want quality, transparency, and expert guidance.

Why Launch Now?

“Koi Online is about bringing Japanese koi to hobbyists the way Japan intended — carefully selected, properly raised, and priced fairly. We’ve been doing this behind the scenes for years at the trade level. Now it’s time the wider public had access to the same standards,” said Ricky.

With the increasing demand for quality koi fish for sale online, and the growth of the UK hobbyist market, Koi Online fills a long-standing gap:

Direct access to Japanese koi with known lineage

A trustworthy UK supplier with proven experience

A platform that educates as much as it sells

Customer Story: Estelle C. – “A Lifetime With Living

by Kodama Koi Farm | 2025 StoryCustomer StoryNews

A Lifetime With Living Jewels

We are honored to celebrate Kodama’s 25th Anniversary with those who have had this passion for even longer than we have been open. Thank you  Estelle, for sharing your incredible 35-year journey with us—what began as a gift from your husband blossomed into a multigenerational passion.

Your story is a beautiful reflection of how koi can bring peace, joy, and connection across decades, and we’re honored to be a small part of that legacy.

Customer Story By: Estelle C.

“Reflecting on my journey in owning these “Living Jewels,” it’s hard to believe I started 35 years ago. My husband and I were a newly married couple, and he decided to build me a koi pond. We filled it with a handful of Koi purchased from a landscape nursery, and that first group of Koi went on to teach me a great deal.

My first lesson: I had no idea what I was doing. When people ask me which of my koi is my favorite, I can honestly answer that it is my now-34-year-old, 91cm female ki Matsuba, my young daughter named Herman. We now jokingly refer to Herman as “Hermena” since we found out several years later that Herman is a female.

As time went on, Herman and I learned about water quality, oxygen and pond treatments together, and she has watched and survived as I have fumbled my way through it all. My love of koi spread to my daughter, who would go with me to pick out koi at our local garden centers. By our pond is a statue of a little girl gazing at the water’s edge, purchased because she reminded me of my own daughter. My little girl has now grown into an adult who still shares in all of my koi adventures.

• Hohe Verdaulichkeit
